Patient Care Assistant (PCA) (Casual)

Join our team at Albany Community Hospice as a casual Patient Care Assistant and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients. We are currently hiring for day, afternoon, and night shifts, providing you with flexible scheduling options.

As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care services. Under the guidance of our experienced clinical team, you will provide personalised care to our patients, adhering to national standards and our Hospice’s policies and procedures.

At Albany Community Hospice, our PCAs contribute to three essential functions: patient support, meal service, and cleaning.

In the morning shift from 7am to 11am, you will assist with patient care and prepare and serve a nourishing breakfast. At weekends, the morning shift is extended to finish at 1pm as you will prepare and serve the lunch supported by our experienced catering assistant volunteers.

During the afternoon shift from 4pm to 8pm, you will continue to provide exceptional patient care while also preparing and serving a delicious dinner. Additionally, your role will involve high-touch cleaning to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for our patients.

If you prefer working during the night, our night PCA role might be the perfect fit for you. As a night PCA, you will support our Registered Nurse during the night as needed. Your shift will consist of two blocks, from 9pm to 11pm and 5am to 7:30am. During the designated sleepover period between 11pm and 5am, you will receive an on-call rate while sleeping in our dedicated sleepover room. There may be occasions when you will be required to assist the Registered Nurse during these hours, for which you will be compensated.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the role, you must hold, as a minimum, a Certificate III in Individual Support.
